The API authenticates requests with company API keys. A key belongs to a company, not to a person: it keeps working when team members change.

Create a key

In the dashboard, open Developer > API Keys (it requires the Access API permission in your company) and create a key:
  1. give it a name that says what uses it, for example “CRM integration” or “Billing service”;
  2. choose its permissions (see below);
  3. copy the key: it is shown only once.
You can change the permissions of an existing key without recreating it, and delete a key to revoke it at once.

Send the key

Send the key in the Authorization header as a bearer token:
A missing or invalid key gets success: false with code 4.
Keep keys on your servers. Never ship them in a mobile app, a browser or a public repository. If a key leaks, delete it in the dashboard and create a new one.

Permissions

A key only does what its permissions allow. There are four: Give each key the smallest set it needs: a service that only sends notifications needs Send messages, a back-office that configures agents needs Manage integrations. A request without the needed permission gets code 1005 and a message naming the missing permission:
GET /me returns the abilities of the key you use (body.token.abilities).
v1.0 does not check key permissions: any valid key can call any v1.0 endpoint. v2.0 checks them on every request. When you migrate, make sure your keys have the permissions your calls need.
